So we are going to transliterate many religious texts into science speak . Today we will do Jesus' miracle of turning water into wine .
Jesus is said to have turned H2O into Wine .
Now what is water in science speak ?
Water is a transparent and colorless chemical substance .Its chemical formula is H2O, meaning that its molecule contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms, that are connected by covalent bonds.
Oxygen is colorless as a gas but pale blue when in liquid form whereas hydrogen is a colorless gas.
Now what is wine in science speak ?
Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented grapes. Being alcoholic it mainly consists of Ethanol which is a volatile flammable and colorless liquid
Wine consists of :
- Water
- Carbohydrates
- Acids
- Alcohols
- Phenolics
- Nitrogenous compounds
- Inorganic substances
So whereas water is H2O , Wine is C2H6O . This means that Carbon is the missing element in water that binds with the Hydrogen and Oxygen constituents in simple science speak.
Now let us look at the differences of the two liquids , that is water and alcohol which is also wine .
Water: a chemical substance, made up of oxygen and hydrogen.
Alcohol: a chemical compound associated with hydroxyl functional group and carbon atom.
STATES OF MATTER
Water is is found in all the three states of matter.
- Liquid
- Solid
- Gas
Alcohol exists only in liquid state, it doesn’t have the ability to get in solid or gas form.
Chemical Composition:
The chemical formula of water is H2O,
Alcohol is made up of different alcoholic molecules in hydroxyl depending how much carbon is attached with it. The chemical formula of alcohol is CnH2n+1OH.
Taste and smell: Water is tasteless and odorless
Alcohol has a very specific bad odor or a very pungent smell. When it comes to its taste, it carries a bitter and strong taste.
PH value:
Water has a neutral PH value that is 7 hence it is neither basic nor acidic.
Alcohol is acidic with a PH value less than 7.
Boiling Facts : Water has different boiling points mainly depending upon the area in which it exists. At sea level, water instantly boils at 100°C, when it comes to the height, water boils at 68°C. Water has the quality to remain in liquid form no matter whatever the temperature is. It does not have the static temperature.
Alcohol or ethanol has the static temperature for boiling it boils at a temperature of 78.29°C.
So with those details we can say that Jesus' miracles were miracles of speed and always beat the clock.
This is because it is naturally possible to make water into wine as water is a constituent of wine as we have seen above only that the process is long due to fermentation .
Winemakers would wish to have a Jesus Christ working for them but on second thoughts would rather take time in wine making as different levels of carbon in the wine determine the taste of the wine .This means time is also a factor in the manufacture of goods .
Thus miracles are just speedy events which as science is accelerating its modes of operation are also accelerating with cures for certain diseases rising as soon there will be foods that we will eat once and will deal with incurable diseases once and for all .
Thus the element of acceleration is what made miracles miracles in the ancient times and that included the conversion of water into wine or H20 into a Hydroxyl compound .
